Nurture, Grow, Flourish

School Council 2024-25

🌟 Our School Council

At Stubbins Primary School, we are proud to have an active and enthusiastic School Council that plays a vital role in school life.
Our School Council gives all pupils a voice. Through regular meetings, representatives from each class share ideas, raise concerns, and help shape decisions that affect our school. From fundraising events to making suggestions about playground equipment or improving classroom spaces, the council ensures that pupil opinions are heard and acted upon.
The council is made up of elected members from each class. Every September, children put themselves forward and take part in a class vote to choose their representatives. This democratic process helps our pupils understand responsibility, leadership, and how their voices can make a real difference.
Meetings are held regularly and are supported by Miss Barrington, who leads the School Council. Together, the children work on a wide range of initiatives that contribute positively to our school environment.

✨ Highlights from this Year
So far this year, our School Council has:
  • Introduced new team point house namesMalala, Farah, Peel and Attenborough — named after inspirational individuals who reflect our school’s core values. The council led a whole-school election, giving every pupil the chance to vote and have their say.
  • Chosen our school charity for the year: Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, a local organisation that supports the care and rehoming of animals.
  • Collected pupil voice on how to improve indoor breaktimes and classroom environments.
  • Suggested the purchase of a new outdoor bin, after listening to pupil concerns about litter on the playground.
  • Proposed spending council funds on wet play equipment and resources to make reading areas more inviting.
  • Judged whole-school competitions, including the Christmas door displays, extreme reader competition and the Easter arts and crafts competition.
🔧 Currently Working On
  • Planning a Summer Term fundraiser: The School Council are in the process of launching a fun and exciting event to raise money. More information will be shared with families soon!
  • Improving wet playtimes and our environment areas: Following pupil feedback, the council is organising the purchase of equipment for indoor breaktimes and sourcing resources to make our school areas more inviting and comfortable.
  • Raising awareness of road safety: The School Council is launching a poster competition in partnership with Lancashire County Council. The winning designs will be made into a bespoke banner to promote a road safety message outside school.
We are incredibly proud of our School Council and the thoughtful, proactive way they help shape our school. Their commitment to listening, leading, and making a difference truly represents our school values in action.
