Year 3 2019 - 2020
Welcome to Year 3
Hello and welcome to Year 3. I am really looking forward to working with you and your child to have an enjoyable and productive year. The children are now in the Juniors which is extra exciting for them! I will upload a curriculum newsletter at the beginning of each half term to inform you of the children's learning. Every week I will also upload a short class newsletter to the website to let you know about what we have been learning about and inform you have any notices/messages.
Teachers in Year 3
The class will be taught by myself, Mr Robinson and supported by Miss Gerrard and Mrs Wilson. Mrs Mckenell will cover my PPA time and teach the class on a Monday afternoon.
Reading in Year 3
Books will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When your child completes their book please remind them to put it into the 'Reading Books to be Changed' tray first thing in the morning. During Year Three children will continue to develop their confidence with reading and will be reading books with longer text and more complex sentence structures. I will assign your child to a book band which I feel fits their current level of reading, they may however read books from home or from the library also. You can support your child by encouraging them to read daily and asking them questions about their reading e.g. about the characters, plot, predictions for the remainder of the book. Please write a comment about their reading and sign their reading record.
The class will also visit the school library every Wednesday.
Homework is given out every Friday and must be returned by the following Wednesday. I will also send a spellings home every Wednesday with a spelling test the following Wednesday.
Our Class Rules
During the first few days of the Autumn term, we will devise a list of special rules as a class. I will upload these rules once they have been agreed.
Autumn: Rock & Roll
Summer: The World That We Live In
