Under Five's Club
At Stubbins we run a club on Monday afternoons at 1.30 pm - 2.45pm for preschool children and their parents. The club runs throughout the months of October to June (excluding school holidays) and costs just £1 per child which is paid for during each session. This club is specifically for children who are to start school in September 2020, however any younger siblings can join us for the afternoon too. Coming along to the club is a brilliant way of meeting other children who are likely to be in the same class and for parents and carers to get together in a relaxed, informal and sociable environment. In our experience children who come to our weekly club develop a positive understanding of what school is like and their transition from nursery to starting school is smooth and rewarding. The club also helps parents feel much more confident about their child starting school, as they too feel part of the school community, they get to chat with other parents going through the same experiences and they get to know Miss McNulty, the reception class teacher.
The club is basically a play session run by Miss McNulty. There is a wide variety of activities to choose from such as dressing up, colouring and painting, crafts, a physical activity and a range of lovely toys to play with. Often the Head Teacher, Mr Danson will pop in to say hello too! Then at around 2.15pm, we tidy up and sit down to have a well earned rest with a snack and a drink, after which, the children get the opportunity to join the present reception children in the classroom for a story.
As you can imagine the club is very popular and in our experience makes the transition into school a lot easier for them, for you and for us! Come and join us, you'll be made very welcome!
